African movie academic award 2017

The 13th African movie academic award was held for the first time in the city of Lagos at the Eko Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The movers and shakers in the movie industry in Africa all converged at the venue in beautiful apparels the event was hosted by one of Nollywood’s finest Nse Ikpe Etim who brought creativity, diversity and fun to the event alongside a host we could only hear but not see; which added curiosity and drama to the beautiful evening.

Sir Shina peters and other African musicians serenaded the Night with beautiful, evergreen African songs to make the event a remarkable one.

Winners for the Night include Akin Omotosho , who won the best director award, the veteran comic actor Nkem Owoh who received the Life time achievement award, the Movie ‘76’ won the Lagos state best Nigerian film award.

Jahwar Soudani’s role in ‘Last of Us’ earned him the award for Best actor award in a leading role.

Vero Tshanda beat Rita Dominic, Lupita Nyong’O, Bimbo Akintola, Zimkhitha Nyoka , Khabonina Quebeka , Josette Bushell-Mingo to win the Award for best Actress in a leading role for her role in the movie Felicite

The movie Felicite emerged the biggest winner of the night with the AMAA 2017 Best film award.
