5 must watch movies this weekend.

Bird Box

The movie features Sandra Bullock as it’s main character who with two kids one hers and the other an orphan tries to survive the demonic presence that lands on earth that takes the form of your fear and kills you once you open your eyes to see it. She blindfolds herself alongside the kids and journey through several harm and awful encounters. According to several reviews given by people Bird Box offers a humdrum (and kind of hinky) hook but a solid cast, and it’s Sandra Bullock and the ensemble that heap some heft into this standard scorched Earth story. It even features some great actors for a shockingly short amount of time. All in all, it’s not great, but it’s still better than most Netflix genre films and definitely not a time waster.

Mortal Engine

Hundreds of years after civilization was destroyed by a cataclysmic event, a mysterious young woman, Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar), emerges as the only one who can stop London — now a giant, predator city on wheels — from devouring everything in its path. Feral, and fiercely driven by the memory of her mother, Hester joins forces with Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan), an outcast from London, along with Anna Fang (Jihae), a dangerous outlaw with a bounty on her head. This movie is different from most action sci-fi and is definitely a good watch .

Lion Heart

First, this movie gives you all kinds of vibes , ranging from family values , business oriented mindsets , and above all the power of determination.
The cinematography was so great and amazing this isn’t the everyday nollywood film. This movie story line is authentic and it’s not far fetch from the reality women are faced with in our African Job Market . It tells the story of Adaeze a young business woman who has to save her dad’s transportation company and beat the odds . The casts beyond amazing, everyone shine , Nkem Owoh well done Sir ,  there were comic moments at the right time all thanks to him .  Genevieve is an amazing actor and has a director she didn’t disappoint.  What she did with every character in the movie shows nothing less than excellence. The balance between Hausa, Igbo and English was thrillingly captivating. It’s worth the watch and there’s nothing like a perfect movie but this movie is imperfectly perfect according to lots of viewers review and it is definitely a must watch.

God Calling

‘God Calling’ is a story of redemption that looks at the life of Sade, her family and her faith through the lens of an unconventional encounter with God in this modern age.

After Sade, the protagonist, suffers a personal tragedy, she goes on a journey of self-discovery and faith as she battles with the conflicting pressures of family, culture, and social expectations. The movie shines a spotlight on modern day spirituality by imaginatively exploring what it might look like for Abraham or Prophet Elijah to be Nigerian in 2018, and have to contend with disbelief as well as current realities such as smartphones, and social media. This movie also like Lion heart in terms of production and clear portrayal that Nollywood has gotten better is also a good and must watch.

A Star is Born

Seasoned musician Jackson Maine discovers — and falls in love with — struggling artist Ally. She has just about given up on her dream to make it big as a singer until Jackson coaxes her into the spotlight. But even as Ally’s career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Jackson fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons.

It is a musical romantic drama film produced and directed by Bradley Cooper (in his directorial debut) and written by Eric Roth, Cooper and Will Fetters. A remake of the 1937 film of the same name, it stars Cooper, Lady Gaga, Andrew Dice Clay, Dave Chappelle, and Sam Elliott, and follows a hard-drinking musician (Cooper) who discovers and falls in love with a young singer (Gaga). It marks the fourth remake of the original 1937 film, after the 1954 musical, the 1976 musical, and the 2013 Bollywood film, Aashi. This movie is for patient viewers as it’s storyline is very deep, A Star is Born is also a good watch.
