COVID19 Relief: Abuja residents deny receiving money from State.

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Sadiya Umar Farouq, had earlier said that 2.6 million poor citizens of Nigeria had received a cash transfer, courtesy of the government’s COVID19 Intervention Programme. She said 11 million households have been identified in 35 states who have benefitted from the scheme.

However, Nigerians living in Abuja denied receiving any form of relief package from the government. According to Sahara Reporters, individuals in vulnerable communities such as Dutse Alhaji, Lugbe,  Kuje, Gwagwalada and Gudu had no idea of any fund that was disbursed for that purpose despite the claims by the government that millions had received 20,000 naira each.

Few Local Government Areas in Lagos State had confirmed receipt of a meagre package containing few cups of rice and bread, but nothing in terms of cash transfer.
