Ramadan Begins Today, As Millions Of Muslims Around The World Observe The Holy Month

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III has declared Tuesday, April 13, the first day of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

He declared that the crescent moon was seen in almost every part of the country on Monday, which is the 29th day of the Month of Shaban, which means today, 13th April is the first day of Ramadan 1442.

Sultan Abubakar called on the entire Muslim community in the country to begin fasting on Tuesday according to the teachings of Islam.
He said the council got information on the sighting of the moon from many Islamic leaders across the country, which he said means the start of Ramadan fast on Tuesday.

He urged Muslims to use this month of Ramadan to pray against the spread of coronavirus in the country and work in line with the government directive and all other relevant stakeholders in the country.

He also called on the Muslims all over the country to use the month of Ramadan to pray for the leaders of the country and also against insecurity in the country.

He implored Islamic clerics and leaders to follow the laid down Covid19 procedures by observing social distancing during the conventional prayers and other activities during the month.
